The second of three camera roll filmed by Dennis Wompra showing some of the early stages of construction for RAF fylingdaless on Snod Hill, part of the North Yorks Moors National Park. In this reel men work on a concrete structure built beside a stream. On the man site a silo is installed, most likely for storage of concrete, and lattice steel load-bearing reinforced frames being unloaded from a flatbed lorry in readiness for building construction.
A country road passing by a grove of trees, in the distance the town on Whitby and the North Sea beyond. The film changes to show open moorland around Snod Hill followed by a steam across with a temporary road constructed across it. Nearby, beside the stream a construction site and a concrete foundation with scaffolding surrounds it and workmen move along it.
At a different part of the structure what now appears to be square metal panels have been installed on the surface, a man applies tar or other waterproofing lacquer to a fabric strip which he passes down to another man working beneath him They work together to apply the strip to another metal panel which is a wall rather surface panel. Following a brief blank section, the two men work to install another panel on the structure. An overview of the site with the elongated structure or structures following the route of the stream.
A gravel road leading to a construction site in the distance. At the site men go about their work beside a number of pieces of heavy machinery including a crane. Several large green tents have been erected. A metal rail track traverses the cleared site as men and machinery travel past in both directions. Two men watch a group of workers, and a bulldozer clears part of the site next to the rail track.
A silo has been erected on one end of the site which is now cleared of most of the heavy machinery. At another part, a car is parked near to the crane and workmen and other pieces of machinery go about their business. Men work to install a diesel generator to the silo, stored nearby pile of concrete piping.
A recently laid concrete foundation changes to workmen and a crane unload a number of lattice steel load-bearing reinforced frames from the back of a flatbed lorry stacking them beside the road. A man standing beside the lorry turns and gets into a Land Rover parked nearby. The film ends on a caterpillar-tracked tractor-scraper moving across the site.
