Around the edge of large field women, many in Red Cross uniforms, help to set up for an event. One table contains several large colourful flowers, another has a sign beside on a table that reads ‘Detachment 520 Lemington’. One uniformed woman stands beside a table laid out with a large Union Jack; another holds up an embroidery to the camera.
With the event now underway well dress men and women walk across the field past a marquee towards the tables set up by the women near to a grove of trees. A senior Red Cross officer escorts a woman onto a raised platform, she is presented with a bouquet by a younger woman.
An older woman in a distinct red and white Red Cross nurses uniform walks past, in the background men and women look over the various laid out tables. Two more women in nurses’ uniforms walk past, a brass band performs in the shade of a tree. Inside the marque a large crowd sit at tables.
Outside two men in uniforms stand with a third wearing a suit beside a table. A woman standing beside a ‘Home Ambulance Service’ vehicle smiling. An older man stands beside a van.
A couple walk past, the woman looking at the camera. She takes a seat beside a group of other women, other women stand around waiting on something to happen.
Sitting under a tree beside the marquee several young women wrap crockery in tissue paper. Behind the tent more women, several in Red Cross nurses’ uniforms, stand at a table washing cups and saucers.
A woman pushes a pram containing a baby across the field. Two women in Red Cross uniforms stand behind a table with a Union Jack draped over, they talk with the woman seen previously who was presented with a bouquet.
