Title: And pupils from Heathfield Senior High School
A coal burning fireplace in a room in need of renovation. Bare concrete above the fireplace, plaster falls off in other places. The windows are boarded up, the radiators are very dirty.
A teenage girl in a white lab coat sands down a doorframe, another uses a heat gun to help scrap paint from a wall. Behind her a man works with a hammer and a length of wood. Around the room teenagers work on various aspects of the renovation, a girl sands down a window frame, the man with the piece of wood hammers it into the ceiling. Another girl uses a screwdriver to begin pulling out the window block. In another room boys and girls use rollers and brushes to paint various pieces of wood.
Outside the group go for a walk, they run along a woodland track and carefully make their way down an icy slope watched by a man in glasses. Some run down the slope, other slide down on their bottoms. General views of a snowy wood and stream, the group have a snowball fight.
Back in the room a girl is painting the ceiling, others paint the skirting boards and walls. Several others work to either clean or install carpet tiles as well as a new skirting board. Two of the girls have a discussions.
Three younger boys sit in another classroom, the man in glasses seen previously speaks to a girl sitting next to him. The clock on the wall reads 2.28pm. Four girls gather around a map laid out on a table, three of them then run out of the building onto a snow-covered field. The film changes to three boys walk along a country road carrying an orienteering map. A phantom car ride along a country road changes to one of the three girl seem previously looking at a map or sign attached to a field gate. All three walk away past a parked car.
Back at Dukeshouse Camp a group of teenagers sit around the school swimming pool. The water in the pool has frozen and some of them walk across the icy surface. A white sports car drives up and a young woman gets out carrying rolls of wallpaper. Back inside the room two of them work to hang the paper on the walls over the fireplace. As they continue to work the film ends on a view of the now renovated room.
