Title: Easter Bonnet Parade 1975
On stage inside the Low Grange Social Club two men are performing; one plays an electric organ the other a set of drums. Around the room people sit around small tables chatting and drinking some enjoying a cigarette. Beside them in front of the stage couples dance around a dance floor. More people sitting near a side wall chat beside tables overflowing with half finished pints of beer.
A parade of women wearing variously decorated and colourful Easter bonnets make their way around the room watched by friends and family seated at their tables. They line up in front of the stage, amongst them a man in a cowboy hat. A man gives slips of paper to two of the women kissing them on the cheek. They both step forward as the audience applaud. Everyone returns to their seats.
Two men make their way onto the stage where they are presented with a trophy. Both men lift it into the air as the audience applaud, one of the men makes a speech via a microphone.
People continue to chat and drink around the room; some look up and smile at the camera. Couples waltz around the dance floor, others sitting down move in unison side to side to the music or sing along to the lyrics. An older man standing in a doorway holds up his hand, next to him a couple hug. A man brings over three pints of beer to his table.
Couples continue to dance while behind the bar a man in a bow-tie clean dirty glasses. Beside him three women work to serve thirsty customers. Some couples get up from their seats to dance accompanied by the man playing the electric organ on stage. Two women dance together, on occasion the men spin their partners around. The music changes and the crowd dance more casually, a number older women form a line to do the can-can some kicking their legs in the air. A glitter ball hangs from the ceiling and the dancing slows.
A woman behind the bar reaches over and kisses the man on the other side, the two barmaids beside her laugh and smile. People begin to leave; others continue to drink and chat amongst themselves around their respective tables. Large numbers of empty beer bottles fill the empty tables. A group stands beside the stage, a woman waves her arms in the air. Another group around some tables begin to wave their arms in the air. The film ends as another group about to leave hug and sway together while singing.
