Behind the bar at the Empire Social Club a young man with long hair serves drinks and smiles at the camera. The room is packed with men and women of all ages both seated and standing drinking pints of beer and chatting. Many look into the camera as it passes various table around the room, a couple kiss.
A parade of women wearing variously decorated and colourful Easter bonnets make their way around the club passing many patrons sitting around small tables some applauding. The women line up in front of a stage on which stands a male compere speaking to the audience via a microphone. Some of the women return t their tables, two make their way onto the stage and are kissed on the cheek by the compere. Four others come up onto the stage to applause from the audience and two begin to dance for the still applauding audience and compere.
A female singer performs on stage and those in the audience return to their drinks and conversations. A number put their arms around those next to them in an embrace, some of the women begin singing along to the lyrics. Tables overflow with half-drunk pint glasses and beer bottles.
A man now performs on stage as a group of men gather around the bar hugging and chatting. A group of women seated against a wall begin to move to the music, others are sing along. The compere speaks from the stage as two barmaids clear up behind the bar. Another male singer performs accompanied by a man playing a piano, many listening in the audience applaud when he finishes, one man is smoking a fat cigar.
A band performs on stage, in front people dance forming a conga line which snakes around the room. Those seated look on in amusement. The conga line breaks up but the dance floor is full of dancing men and women.
With the night over and people gone tables around the club are littered with empty pint glasses, beer bottles and overflowing ashtrays.

The film ends on a man apparently telling a joke and those around him listening and laughing.
