The film shows guests arriving and sitting down to a formal meal. The party move to a new room where a raffle is held, and a number of men and women come forward to sing.
A neon sign lights up the outside of the Telstar Hotel on Marsh House Avenue in Billingham, inside tables around a large room are setup for a formal meal.
Older men and women arrive and go inside the hotel, some smile at the camera as they pass. Sitting around the table’s guests enjoy their Christmas dinner. Around the room glass cabinets are filled with trophies, from the ceiling hang Christmas decorations. Waitresses in black and white uniforms clear away finished plates as those at the table continue to eat and chat with those around them.
Dessert and coffee are served as those sitting at tables smile as the camera passes. At the bar four men stand chatting with a woman and man working behind the counter.
Following the meal, the group move to a different room where a number of men stand to speak. Raffle tickets are drawn, and prizes passed to winners wrapped in Christmas paper. A band performs and people listen while they drink, primarily pints of beer. A man speaks into a microphone and an older man comes forward to sing and is accompanied by a man playing an electronic keyboard. He finishes and the audience applauds. A woman then comes forward and sings accompanied by the man on the keyboard as well as a man on drums. Several additional men and women come forward to perform, some in the audience sing along while others enjoy their drinks.
A number of trays of sausage rolls and food on cocktail sticks are laid out along the bar. The film ends with these trays being passed around the room as a woman performs
