Inside the Empire Social Club men and women of all ages sit around small tables or along the wall drinking pints of beer and chatting happily. Some of the women sing, many turn to face the camera smiling. Four women sitting against a wall sway in unison to the tune they are humming.
On stage a band performs alongside a male singer, the audience listens with interest chatting amongst themselves, some in the audience sing along.
A parade of women wearing variously decorated and colourful Easter bonnets make their way around the club. Everyone watches as they pass admiring the handiwork. On stage a man reads from a set of cards, four women in bonnets stand behind him. The audiences applaud as a fifth woman shakes hands with each of the competitors kissing the last one in the cheek, she walks off carrying a bouquet.
More views of patrons around the club, a man stands carrying a tray of pint glasses full of beer. Three women sitting against the wall smile, two of them hug each other. A man comes over and places his arms around two men, they all smile at the camera. People continue to drink and chat happily.
On stage two men in women’s clothing stand around a shorter woman singing into a microphone. Around the club people join in with the singing, some of the women still wear their bonnets.
Behind the bar two barmaids in yellow coats stand beside a third in a blue dress. Both barmaids hold half -pint glasses, one holds theirs in the air before they both take a drink.
On stage an older woman sings, them the audience applaud. A man sitting between two
women has his arms around them. People continue to drink and chat together around tables filled with empty pint glasses and beer bottles. The film ends on the audience singing along with the female singer on stage.
