Inside on a small stage a man in smart suit, the compere for the event, speaks into a microphone, the men next to him applause as he finishes. An older couple appear beside the man who speaks again into the microphone. Patrons of the club sitting at table in front of the stage begin to applaud.
The older woman is presented with a bouquet and a second man comes to the microphone and speaks to the crowd who listen, the men drink from their pints of beer. The older man comes to the microphone to speak, the film changing to a portrait photograph of another man.
A number of other men come to the microphone to speak while around them the audience listens and applauds. A second woman in a white dress passes a tray of silverware to the first older man, she is then presented with a bouquet. The man presenting speaks to the audience via the microphone and shakes her hand. She makes a speech to the crowd and everyone applauds.
A group of women in mini-skirts parade around the stage in a circle, a number dance and smile for the camera. An older woman, her bloomers under her green dress showing, dances past at the rear laughing. The audience of men and women watch intently. One of the younger women stands beside the compere as he reads from a card into the microphone. Two more women in miniskirts come onto the stage standing beside the first.
Around the club men and women of various ages sit at tables drinking and chatting happily. Empty pint glasses fill the tables in front of them. Many look towards the camera as it passes, some hold up their drinks. They break into song, some swaying together in their chairs, others waving their arms in the air. Four woman sitting against the wall begin clapping in unison. Everyone is a little drunk, but happy.
On the stage a couple are dancing, around them the club watches clapping along. More couples get up onto the dance floor to dance.
Outside on a field a group of women in football strips walk past a small crowd, the cranes at Furness Shipbuilding Company can be seen in the background. A match begins with two teams in yellow and blue. A crowd watches from the side lines as each team tries at goal. The game and film end with the crowds walking onto the pitch.
