An amateur film produced by Simon Chapman of various steam locomotives and their wagons travelling along a series of railway lines, including an incline railway, between the village of South Hetton to Seaham Harbour and around Shotton Colliery.
Smoke gushes from the funnel of a steam locomotive as it reverses along a track pulling a number of wagons. Another locomotive comes to a stop near to a railway crossing, a van drives past. It pulls away, the film changing to show it now travelling backwards along another set of tracks.
Another locomotive pulls a set of coal wagons along a track. It comes to a stop and after the wagons are de-coupled moves away. A fourth train comes to a stop at a set of signals, smoke pouring from its funnel. The film ends with it pulling away.
