The film also features two weddings, the second of which takes place at St James & St Basil’s Church in Fenham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in April 1954.
Two women and a young man enjoy a picnic leaning against an earthen bank, the man looks out to sea through a telescope. A woman walks along a seaside promenade, in the background a pier with a domed building at the end of it. A number of buildings along the promenade near to the pier, the three people seen previously pose together beside a car.
A man walks into the cabin of a ferryboat which pulls away from a quayside. A man leans against a railing, the skyline of a town passes in the background. An older couple pose beside a car before getting into it. As the ship heads out to sea gulls fly overhead, a woman throws up food for them to catch.
On a beach a young boy, outside an amusement arcade a laughing dummy dressed as a clown waves at those walking past. A clock above a decorative archway changes to a small girl in a boat, part of a children’s fairground ride. A family group pose beside a car.

[Colour] A woman with an umbrella up walks along a church path, a younger woman in a white or cream dress and carrying a bouquet runs along the path getting out of the rain. Other guests arrive at the church, some wearing mackintoshes.
The bride and her father arrive at the church, he is holding the dress train. The newly married couple walk arm-in-arm along the church path, three women watch in the background. Behind them a large advertising hording for ‘Ovaltine’. Other guests follow behind. A large crowd stand around the happy couple as they pose for the camera alongside various family members.
[Black and white] A public house sign for the ‘Fox & Hound’ is followed by a woman posing outside the pub itself. A road sign points towards Okehampton in one direction, Tavistock the other.
Another sign reads ‘A Glastonbury Holy Thorn’ and a couple walking through a churchyard. People walk around the grounds on a cathedral changes to a suburban street and a semi-detached house. Two women and a man chat in the doorway of the house. A young boy and his father in a garden, his mother helping to feed him.

In a field at the edge of a road an older man feeds a sheep watched by two men and a woman standing behind him. Three women feed a number of sheep which have gathered around their bus. The man seen previously continues to feed the sheep.
A large crowd of cloth-capped men watches a man play a game of quoits, he throws a metal ring into the air. A group poses for the camera beside a shop sign, nearby a large sign for the ‘Old Blacksmith’s Shop Marriage Room’ at Gretna Green.
[Colour] A calendar on a mantlepiece advises the date as Saturday 10th April [1954] changes to three bridesmaids posing with a young bride. The bride’s parents pose with her changes to show two women getting out of car. A sign near the church state it is the Fenham Parish Church of St James and St Basil.
The church clock changes to the groom and best man arriving and posing together in the doorway. Other guests arrive going inside as the bridesmaids arrive by car and pose in the church doorway. More guest arrive as well as the bride and her father getting out of a car.
Following the service, the happy couple pose for photographs outside the church watched by their guests. They pose for official photographs in the church garden, family and friends gather around. Close ups of the faces of both the married couple as well as bridesmaids and best man. The married couple pose together with family in the church doorway, those attending watching and posing for the camera.
In a garden a large family group stand together chatting, a young man conducts three women to dance together until they all fall over. The group stand around chatting, the man and another woman have a pretend sword fight using sticks. The man falls over as if hit before she chases him away hitting him over the head with her stick.

[Black and white] A rural scene and a large house, two women sit on a barrier beside the water. From a quayside a couple watches as a steam ship travel past and dock nearby. Lettering above a building reads ‘Largs’. The ship sails away.
A man comes down a path outside a large house, pigeons feed at a woman’s feet. The film ends on a man walking along a beach and four women walk along a promenade.
