The film opens showing a small dog and boy standing in the road followed by a family making their way along the same road towards Main Street.
Crowds of people stand on the pavement along both sides of Main Street. Five people come out of a building and also stand along the pavement. Union Jacks and bunting hang on the wall of a house while at another a table and chairs have been set up.
A young woman walks along a suburban road, a young couple stand at a gate chatting. General views show the crowds waiting along the road including the family seen previously standing on the other side of the road. In a nearby grassed area children play.
A procession of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides turn onto Main Street and march past the watching crowds. A marching brass band comes next followed by Brownies walking beside a decorative float. The Bedlington ‘Revellers’ juvenile jazz band marches past followed by a float on which stand a number of men and women dressed in Edwardian costumes. A banner attached to the lorry reads ‘Royal Ascot'.
The Houghton-le-Spring Legionnaires juvenile jazz band marches past, a small girl twirls her baton in front of the band. Another decorative float and a third juvenile jazz band march past followed by the Shildon fire engine and a fourth juvenile jazz band. A number of small girls in tutu dresses ride past on the back of another decorative float as it passes D.E.A Foskett's television shop. The film ends showing a fifth juvenile jazz band marching past.
