An amateur film produced by Peter Carnegie believed to feature the filmmaker and his veteran car taking part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Beginning at the filmmaker’s home in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the film shows him traveling to London where his vehicle is on display with other cars before they drive through the countryside as part of a convoy arriving at a racing circuit where vehicles take part in maneuvering trials and racing.
A vintage car pulling away from a Newcastle suburban home, its occupants waving at the camera. A phantom car ride follows travelling south along a motorway and then across the river Thames with Tower Bridge in the distance.
Beside some railway arches a number of veteran cars are parked with owners looking them over. The film changes to a seafront location where more veteran cars are parked, a couple in an open top car drive past.
A sequence from a Charlie Chaplin comedy is inserted showing him attempting to start a car and then drive away with a woman.
Back at the seafront and railway arches more parked vintage vehicles and their owners.
A phantom car ride shows the vehicle being driven as part of a convoy of veteran cars through the countryside. A car overtakes and they pass a number of vehicles parked in a field, they also pass a number of vehicles driving in the opposite direction. From the side of the road the convoy passing.
Another sequence from the Charlie Chaplin film follows in which our hero is being chased by another car. Charlie’s car stops, and in a panic, he looks over the engine and tries to start it again. It starts and the chase continues.
Back at the rally onlookers along the pavement watch as the cars drive through a suburban area. General views follow of various parked veteran cars as well as a view of the engine of one of them.
Another excerpt from the Charlie Chaplin film shows two policemen trying to stop the car with a rope, but instead they are dragged along the road.
A number of vehicles arrive at a racing circuit and are directed by stewards to their allotted parking space. A number of vehicles take part in in an obstacle trial inter-cut with footage from the Charlie Chaplin film of him driving wildly in circles.
A number of veteran racing cars race each other around the circuit watched by onlookers in the stands.
A convoy of vehicles begin to leave passing other cars parked along the verge. A helicopter flies overhead and the film ends from the passenger seat of a veteran vehicle as it and all the other veteran cars drive slowly around the circuit making their way towards the exit.
