This film documents a series of Point to point races in North Yorkshire in 1931 as well as hunts in 1949. Point to point is a form of amateur horseracing over fences for hunting horses. Intertitles are used throughout the film to explain the different events and locations. The film was made by Col. Sir William Arthington Worsley of Hovingham, 4th Baronet. He was also a cricketer who captained Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1928 and 1929 and captured cricket events on film as well as life and events in and around Hovingham village. The film opens with a shot of a garden with flowers. There are two women in it. Title-The Middle Hunt Point to Point Steeplechase Tuesday March 24th 1931. Title-Middleton Hunt Point-to-point jumps March 1931 This sequence begins with a race taking place. Some of the jumps are shown in slow motion and some of the shots show more jumping and technical moves. Title-Middleton Hunt Point-to-point Saddling March 1931 Spectators are lined up along the fence watching as the horses are paraded beside them. Title-Middleton Hunt point-to-point finishes March 1931 The crowd can be seen wandering about the grounds. Title-Here is the Sinnington Hunt Point-to-Point March 1931 Jumps and finishes. This portion of the film documents further horse jumping, the grounds and the people that are milling around. Title-Pony Club Camp in Hovingham Park. A girl stands beside a field of horses and in the next shot there is a camp set up with big, white tents. A group of children gather in a field, saddle and bridle the horses, and then ride them around the field. An instructor gets some of them to go over some jumps. Title- January 1949 The Sinnington Hounds at Ness. Some horses and their riders and fox hounds wander around a forest. Title - March 1949 Middleton Hounds at Hovingham A final colour sequence shows the start of the hunt in Hovingham village. Huntsmen, who are mounted on horses, are on the small green. Some of the villagers are there to watch. The hunt begins, and the riders set off to hunt.
