An amateur film produced by Peter Carnegie featuring a number of veteran cars owned by the filmmaker. He, along with friends and family, work on the cars in the driveway of his suburban home in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He also takes part in a number of rallies and displays during 1962 including the Blaydon Races centenary that year.
The film begins with a man in overalls and walking stick making his way along a path. A number of caravans are parked beside an ornate building. A man opens a car door and two men climb out. Another man looks over the engine of a veteran car.
A phantom car ride along a country road changes to a group of men in a driveway of a suburban home looking over three veteran cars parked there and on the road. A woman joins the group and begins to clean one of the cars.
Another phantom car journey follows, this time following behind another veteran car. The film changes to a view of an open-top vintage car driving along a street in Newcastle. A number of other veteran cars park up along the curb along with a number of motorbikes, including one with a sidecar. The vehicles are driven up and down the street and then another phantom car ride takes the occupants along the Great North Road. They overtake another veteran car which then overtakes them, a man in the passenger seat of the other car waves at the camera.
Back at the front driveway of the suburban home, a group of men and women pose for a camera beside a pint of milk.
A woman looking over the engine of a veteran car is followed by a procession of vintage cars traveling along a road passing crowds on the pavement. A phantom car ride takes part in the procession through a suburban area, across the Scotswood Chain Bridge and along Grainger Street towards Grey’s Monument passing crowds along the route.
The film changes to show a number of veteran cars parked on a road outside the suburban house again. In the back garden another vehicle is in a state of disrepair, its side hood open to show the engine.
At a caravan park, four young women climb out of a parked Roll Royce. A group of six poses beside the vehicle. The car travels along a road with a small boy asleep on the back seat.
In a lane beside a church a number of veteran vehicles are parked, their engine hoods open. People walk around looking at the vehicles. In the driveway of a large building more cars and motorbikes are parked up with visitors looking over the vehicles and their engines. The cars drive off in convoy followed by a phantom car ride view as the vehicles travel along a street.
At a new location, a number of vintage cars are parked as more cars arrive and move into position at the site. The film ends with views of a veteran car parked outside the suburban home seen earlier.
