The first of two amateur travelogues produced by James Madden of a visit to the southern city of Krakow in Poland. The film begins with a walk beside the Vistula River followed by views of tourists on Main Square visiting both Krakow Cathedral and Krakow Cloth Hall. The final part of the film is of a tour around Wawel Castle.
From besides the Vistula River the spires of Krakow Cathedral in the distance, nearby local people sit on benches playing chess. On the water, a sightseeing charter...
The first of two amateur travelogues produced by James Madden of a visit to the southern city of Krakow in Poland. The film begins with a walk beside the Vistula River followed by views of tourists on Main Square visiting both Krakow Cathedral and Krakow Cloth Hall. The final part of the film is of a tour around Wawel Castle.
From besides the Vistula River the spires of Krakow Cathedral in the distance, nearby local people sit on benches playing chess. On the water, a sightseeing charter boat passes with those on board looking out the historic skyline. At the Wawal Dragon bronze statue fire comes out of its mouth as people pose for photographs beside it. Along a path underneath Wawel Castle beside the river family's walk.
People make their way through a number of archways towards Krakow Cathedral with its two towers. A smaller golden domed building stands beside it as a group of children make their way along the pathway leading to the church.
Another group makes their at across the court yard of a large building built on a number of levels with stone arches, possibly Krakow Cloth Hall. They pass a statue of a man on horseback and arrive in a the cities Main Square in front of the cathedral where crowds of tourist mingle or listen to uniformed tour guides. A young girl walks past eating candyfloss on a stick. A man hands out large black peacock feathers, a Chinese tourist waves hers for the camera.
Dozens of paintings hang from a wall as people walk past looking at them, a horse drawn carriage passes the Cloth Hall and cathedral where tourists continue to mingle in Main Square. More peacock feathers are handed out by a tour guide and visitors continue to admire the artworks hanging from the walls.
A woman sells pretzels from a wagon and a young man walk past eating one. From a kiosk another man purchases and begins to eat an open sandwich known locally as a Zapiekanki.
A modern electric tram passes along a city street and through a stone archway comes a horse drawn passenger carriage full of tourists. Beside the cathedral a market stall where a florist makes a bouquet watched by a small crowd. Nearby children feed pigeons, a number of boys are wearing blue neckties. Parents points up at the cathedral spires, their children look up. Two nuns walk across the square carrying flowers.
Tourists make their way under a stone archway with two gold cross keys above it and the film ends with a tour group walking around Wawel Castle and leaving through a set of iron gates.
