An amateur travelogue produced by James Madden of a touring holiday to Albania begins in the capital Tirana visiting the National Martyrs Cemetery of Albania before moving onto Gjirokastër in Southern Albania before visiting the ruins of the Amphitheatre of Butrint and the coastal town of Sarandë as well as St Mary's Church and Monastery at Apollonia.
From a hill overlooking Tirana below a rose grows on a bush in the foreground. Pedestrians walk past the municipal building and a large fountain at the centre of Skanderbeg Square. Nearby Et'Hem Bey Mosque and the Skanderbeg Monument. Buses, as well as pedestrians, pass through the square.
At the National Martyrs Cemetery of Albania, the Mother Albania statue dominates the skyline watching over well-maintained graves. A soldier with a rifle stands guard near a number of marble tombs.
Back in Tirana traffic and pedestrians move along a busy road. A group of men with bicycles look in a shop window.
Beside a country road two cows are attached to a wagon, the view changes to a village in a valley below. A man rides out of the village on a donkey, sheep are herded past along a hillside.
At Gjirokastër views show whitewashed houses and the Castle of Gjirokastra overlooking the city. Local people walk along a cobbled street going about their business. Banners hang across a number of roads. The sculpture of Communist politician Enver Hoxhes changes to a sculpture for the Gjirokastër National Folklore Festival.
Two men walk along a path beside a modern amphitheatre, nearby artists draw the city below. Back in town people walk along the street passing under more red banners possibly relating to the festival. The film shows various shops and street signs hanging from walls.
A phantom bus ride follows into the mountains and a visit to the ruins of the Amphitheatre of Butrint. Tourists walk around the site taking photographs including those of a mosaic floor. In the near distance, a boat is moored along a quayside. A group of tourists stands in the shade under palm trees beside an ancient castle or fort. They look out over a promontory on the coast and nearby town, possibly Sarandë. In the town people walk along pavements and roads close to the sea, a group of boys plays football beside a set of steps.
On a country road, a boy rides past on a donkey. Milk churns hang from the animal as well as from the second donkey in front. Houses stand along a hillside, nearby a group of men smoke a beehive in readiness to harvest the honey. In a valley, a shepherd tends to his sheep while goats feed close by.
Another phantom coach ride through mountains passes a large Communist mosaic built beside the road.
Roman columns from a ruined temple or buildings changes to that of St Mary's Church and Monastery at Apollonia. The tour group explores the site before moving onto another town with a large central square and mosque. People walk through a stone archway and along a cobbled path, children stand in the doorway of a house. A boy holds a dog, and a man stands beside a toddler walking along the road.
A poster for Enver Hoxhes stands in the central square as crowds and traffic move past along a busy boulevard. Two men sit on a set of steps, behind them a man sits on a wagon being pulled by two small horses.
In the countryside a farmer loads cut grass onto a horse-drawn wagon, another passes along the road. A boy stands stomping down the hay on the first wagon as more is loaded on with a pitchfork. The film ends with sheep and cattle grazing in a field and a small boy watching over them.
