Title: Land of Giants
The sun sets over the desert at Mount Nemrut in the Taurus Mountains range, a donkey stands in the foreground. People walk around the ruins of a Mesopotamian site with a number of carved stone heads on the ground, nearby is a line of seated headless figures. The tour group continues to explore the site. On top of a hill, people begin to descend.
Members of the group stand around two men, one wearing a keffiyeh or traditional Arabic headscarf. Nearby a man holds two small cages, inside one is a bird. Three men wash their feet in a stream passing under a shelter.
Pomegranates grow on a tree as the tour members climb a rocky hillside passing a large carved figure. A woman rests on a boulder, below her a desert valley. Another view of some carving follows this time of two figures.
A phantom coach ride follows, through the desert to the ancient city of Harran with its unique beehive shaped buildings. A man wearing keffiyeh talks to the group as they head off to look around the site. Three boys herd sheep, the guide takes the group around the ruins.
Pedestrians and children crowd the narrow streets of a large town or city, possibly Urfa. Two men stand in the doorway of a shop. A man holds up a plate to the camera, men and boys stand in the doorway of a shop their goods of fruit and vegetables laid out in wooden crates on the pavement. At another shop loaves of bread are stacked up on a table outside.
The tour group makes their way up a wide set of steps and along a narrow alleyway to a Christian church. The film ends inside showing mosaics on the wall depicting Jesus holding a lamb above that of the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child.
