Title: Springtime 1984
In the kitchen at Scargill House workers prepare food while in the hall others make sandwiches. A sign on the wall reads ‘Make God Smile on Saturday’, a post-it note beneath it reads ‘He's probably laughing anyway!!’.
Outside a man mows the lawn with a petrol lawnmower and a lorry arrives with a large number of wooden chairs which are set up on the lawn.
Inside a woman prepares a vase of flowers while outside men work to construct a small platform or altar.
Around the garden, work continues to prepare for the start of the festival with flowers being arranged, sound system checks, and a musician practicing on an electric keyboard inside. Back outside a group discussion takes place with regards to arrangements while back inside two women work on a flower decoration.
In an office, a number of women work with a sewing machine to create a waistcoat which a man puts on with the help of one of the women. Outside around a table someone puts on a mask with blond hair, possibly made from sheep's wool.
A group of men in costume stand chatting, a baby plays with others nearby. The costumed group have discussions with a number of officials with regards to their production before performing around the platform seen earlier. A number of banners are brought out and placed around the stage area as the performance continues. People come over and place items on the altar.
The film ends on a man speaking with the actors who are now seated listening.
