Title: The Island Boys
Onboard a small car ferry a group of boys look out to sea from the passenger deck, a white Land Rover is parked alongside other cars on the vehicle deck below. Someone points as the ferry approaches and docks at Belmont. A coach drives off the ferry and there are views of the settlement.
In a garden three boys polish their hiking boots, ducks and ducklings walk past nearby. A view of a patch of Monkey flower is followed by the boys looking down on the coastline below. Another boy watches gulls in the sky through binoculars.
At Hermaness National Nature Reserve the boys read an information board, another boy looks at seabirds through binoculars. They walk about the reserve and on the ground come across a number of nests with eggs.
A man boils water on a small gas stove before cutting a large pie into slices. They all enjoy a slice along with mugs of tea which are poured from a silver teapot.
A number of boys come to sit along the cliff edge looking out on birds nesting on the cliff around them. Puffins roost and play watched by boys using binoculars. At another rocky outcrop, a colony of gannets nest in the cliffs or fly past. One boy takes a photograph with his camera, other lies back relaxing in the sun looking out on Muckle Flugga lighthouse in the distance.
Two boys look at a map while below on a rocky beach a fire is lit using driftwood. Other pieces of wood are used as platforms allowing some of the boys to go from one large boulder to another.
Violet coloured flowers grow beside a stone wall and the group walks through the churchyard of St Olaf's Church looking at some of the headstones. On a beach, some of the boys relax while others play fight in the sand.
Some of the boys run along a sandy beach climbing into caves or move across rocky outcrops. They find a small stone building with turf roof and sit relaxing beside it. From the cliffs above three boys stand below at the edge of the water looking out to sea. A family of ducks paddles past and the film ends at sunset with the sun glistening on the water.
