Title: Treasures of the Past
Title: In Western Turkey
In a desert landscape lie the ruins of the city of Ephesus. A group of tourists along with a tour guide explore the ancient site including the city's amphitheatre. A woman flicks through a brochure about the city containing images of the artifacts discovered there. Some of the visitors walk along Harbour Street that leads away from the amphitheatre still lined with stone columns. Others explore what’s left of many of the buildings, some with ornately carved stone archways. Inside one building a guide talks about the coloured mosaic walls.
The group sits along a bench against a wall out of the sun. A guide sits with them pointing at something in front of them. A woman sits on an ancient toilet followed by the guide who talks about the Library of Celsus the ruin at which the group gathers. The group continues to explore as the film shows various views of the site including back in the amphitheatre.
Onboard a coach traveling to a new site the guide speaks with the passengers via a microphone. They arrive at a small church surrounded by a shaded garden. Again the visitors explore the site before heading back to the coach to a third site where, sitting in a small courtyard, a man smokes a hookah or smoking pipe.
The group explores another ruin containing a rectangular-shaped amphitheatre with the guide providing its history. Once again the group goes exploring and the film features locations around the site including a smaller amphitheatre, stone columns, and mosaic floors as well as apples and grapes growing on trees and vines.
At Pamukkale thermal pools contribute to the unique carbonate minerals landscape, four boys lie in a stream as the water flows over them.
A phantom coach ride through the countryside to the film's final destination and the film ends showing some ancient features and detailed carved stonework.
