A coach travels along a country road, those on board chatting happily or looking out of the window. A group of adults and children walk along a country road.
Title: The riverside at Thropton
A number of children race towards a terrace of cottages, then the group walks across a field of cows and calves towards a riverbank at dusk. A number of boys in swimming trunks swim in the river Coquet watched by the group.
A couple walks along Front Street in Thropton and head into the Three Wheat Head Inn, others follow. Back at the bus children pull faces from the backseat as the grown-ups return.

The group makes their way through the village to the Wark Burn. While some look down from the bridge above, others make their way along a path beside the burn. A number of boys go swimming in the water watched by the others above along the road.
Following their swim, a man helps to dry the legs of one of the boys who then put on socks and trousers. The film ends with two older women smiling at the camera.
