Title: Adventures with “Little Nick” Title: In search of a vanishing railway! Title: Alston 7th July 1973 Under the Market Cross on Front Street in Alston stands a group of boys. One boy crosses the road, this is followed by a montage of various shop signs around the town. One of the boys comes over and looks at a display of bicycles outside ‘Kirsopp Motor & Cycle Depot’. Another boy comes over and talks to him. Back at the Market Cross a man in yellow waterproof looks at a map while another group heads off to look around the town where they find a window display of glass bottles. The group head out of town walking along a river. The group rests beside a wall as some of the boys go paddling in the river while others throw stones in the water. The group enters the village of Slaggyford and enjoy ice lollies before making their way onto the platform of the village railway station to wait for a train. Onboard a diesel passenger train they chat and look out the windows as they travel through the countryside. From the driver's cab the train crosses a bridge over a river. They get off the train and a man waves at the guard as it pulls out the station. The group continues their hike crossing a field and passing a large bull in another field. At another railway station, they wait for a train which they board when it arrives. Some of the boys look out the window, and the film ends with one boy fast asleep. Title: ...and so to bed! End title: The end
