The film begins with a newsreel of crowds in London watching King George V and Queen Mary travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey for his wedding of the Duke of Kent to Princess Marina. Following the service the couple return to Buckingham Palace where they pose on the balcony to the crowds below. They leave by train for their honeymoon.
In a field, a group of boys of various ages and in army cadet uniforms lay relaxing on the grass. A man in army uniform hands outs sweets from a paper bag to the boys standing around him, many of the boys turn and look at the camera.
Along a nearby road, a military cadet marching band passes, their instruments held at their sides. Back on the field and officer addresses the cadets followed by them marching off the grass onto the road seen previously carrying rifles across the shoulders. Several platoons march past, an officer at the front. They are followed by a number of local boys as well as some girls. An older man and two older women sit on a bench nearby, they get up and walk along the path.
At a showground a large crowd watches a sheep dog trial take place with the dogs herding sheep around the arena. A number of horses with young riders come onto the showground and proceed to race around the arena jumping over a number of fences. One horse refuses to jump.
