A minivan is parked in a school playground, inside a number of young boys. The van pulls away and drives along a suburban road.
At Commondale at a large whitewashed house Cub Scouts play a game in the back garden involving them trying to move a football around a number of obstacles by using two sticks, they then kick the ball around.
A boy stands near a river then the film changes to a girl trying to take something from a paper bag. The troop walks along a road to a field where they play a game if cricket, two female leaders, or Akela's, sit nearby chatting.
Back in the garden seen previously, a Union Jack is unfurled on a pole and the boys pray with their hands together. A Scout Leader conducts an inspection checking the fingers and nails of the boys. They come to attention before racing away.
In the kitchen a woman bakes a number of pies placing one in an oven. The boys wave glass bottles at the camera before washing their hands. At the table a Scout Leader eats a bowl of soup, in the kitchen some of the boys wash up.
Outside in a stream boys in Wellington boots splash about in the water kicking a ball about. A number of girls also splash around in the stream with one of the boys.
In a line outside of the house, each of the boys takes something from a paper bag being offered to them by a woman. The troop proceeds to go hiking in the surrounding moorland and read maps to confirm directions.
A number of them stand beside a road sign that reads ‘Stray Animals' before continuing on their hike along a track. A diesel passenger train passes through the valley below.
Back at the house two older boys carry a large log and place it in the ground. A game of football is being played behind them. A boy races around the building.
Around the flag pole, the Union Jack is lowered and prayers said. The boys walk around the garden looking for rubbish.
The film ends on a school sports field where a Scout Leader presents a commemorative shield to one of the troops who shows it to family and friends.
