The film opens with the troop working together to unload camping equipment from the back of a ‘Potter Bros (Butchers)’ van onto the platform of Middlesbrough railway station. A man with a camera photographs the troop with all their equipment.
A brief view from the ferry crossing the Irish Sea changes to the troop unloading their equipment in a field. The boys work together to erect tents and set up a mess area with tables and a campfire.
Five Scouts come to attention outside their tent, the leader saluting as a Scout Master conducts an inspection, attention is given to the necks of each boy. At another tent attention is given to the condition of the boys' fingers and nails. A third tent is inspected, the leader looking over a number of mugs. The troop gather around a flag pole and the Union Jack is unfurled.
The troop walk around a beach before practicing their archery skills on targets set up in a nearby field.
Two boys in pajamas come out of a makeshift earthen shelter build against a tree. In the camp kitchen, a number of boys prep and then cook a small animal on a spit over a fire.
Using an axe a Scout begins to chop down a tree while nearby a group of younger boys and their leader use ropes to try and make the tree fall in the right direction. The tree comes down and the axe is used to trim the tree. A second tree is felled and the scouts swarm around it.
In bathing suits the boys swim and play about in the sea. One boy finds something in the water and has to keep transferring it from one hand to the other. The boys dry themselves with towels and walk along the sandy part of the beach. A game of cricket is played on the sand.
Back at camp four boys play a game using dice while around them everyone is relaxing. One boy washes a pot in a metal bowl. He holds up a packet of ‘Daz’ washing powder and uses a hand whisk to churn the washing up water in the bowl.
In the camp kitchen a number of scouts cut up pieces of apple into a pot, one boy eats a piece. A group of boys stand around a blue birthday cake with six candles placed on a stool. One boy uses a knife to cut it, and everyone in camp enjoys a slice.
A play fight takes place with boys jumping on one another. Two boys are tied together back to back with rope, they try to move and fall over. The film ends on the troop standing together chatting and smiling happily.
