This amateur film shows pupils of Percy Hedley School in Newcastle taking a trip to Northumberland which includes a visit to Lindisfarne Castle.
The film begins with a group of teenage boys sitting in wheelchairs posing for the camera.
A group of young women walk towards the camera, a man pushes a wheelchair for one of them.
General views follow of the group film and also two young women sitting down on a grass verge as the camera comes towards them. A large group of the day-trippers, many in wheelchairs, assemble in the school car park.
A change of view follows as a solitary figure walks along a road towards the camera [blurred image].
A young man picks up a girlfriend on a grass verge near the road, and carries her towards the camera.
A number of wheelchair users are pushed along a country road [blurred image] as cars go past.
A roadside sign reads: ‘National Association of Youth Clubs (Northumberland) Coquetdale Country Club’
Another view [blurred] follows of a wheelchair user being pushed along a country road towards the camera.
The location changes to Lindisfarne and two figures in the distance walking away from the camera along a grass track by a stone wall.
The film cuts to a group of figures [quite dark] on a platform or stage decorated with bunting. One of the figures appears to be wearing a gold crown.
Loudspeakers are also attached to a part of the platform’s structure. The event seems to be a pageant or ceremony. A woman places a crown on a girls head. The woman and an older man nearby seem to acting as officials.
[over exposed section] The film changes to a grassed area with a view of the sea beyond. A young girl sits on a tartan rug and looks at the camera, a bucket and spade lie nearby.
A change of view as the girl runs then walks across pools of water in the sand on the beach.
Another view shows a grassed area near a road. The young girl approaches two older women sitting on chairs in the sunshine.
The film ends showing a ship sailing towards the sea from what may be the mouth of a river.
