This home movie shows a number of young adults from Percy Hedley School in Newcastle together as couples. This is followed by a school excursion to the seaside.
The film opens on a group of young adults, some in wheelchairs. A couple on the grass smile at the camera.
Another couple in wheelchairs hold hands. Nearby a boy sits on the lap of his girlfriend in her wheelchair!
A general view shows a number of younger adults in wheelchairs, some are couples looking at the camera.
On a grass verge near some whitewashed buildings, a woman looks sternly towards the camera with her hands on her hips. The film cuts back to the group in wheelchairs.
An interior view shows a woman sitting at an upright piano, a man smokes a cigarette next to her.
The film then shows a dining hall as a woman checks that the tables are ready for mealtime. The film cuts back to the piano, which has on it a display of greetings cards.
The film moves outside into the sunlit lawn next to one of the whitewashed buildings seen earlier. A young man and woman in wheelchairs smile at the camera [some over exposure] then kiss.
[Over exposed section] The film changes location to a beach and a young girl stands looking at the camera with a backdrop of the blue sea. She runs up the beach and another girl follows her [over exposed section]
The next view is on the grass of a pitch and putt golf course and a young man hits a ball with his putter, a girl joins him.
The film cuts to a play area with swings and a climbing frame, and eager young children playing on both.
Some of the young adults seen earlier sit in chairs next to cars in a car park. An older woman sits reading a book in front of a windbreak, a man sits next to her smiling at the camera.
The film cuts briefly to two girls playing near some swings, which then cuts back to the group at the car park, where the woman passes a cup of orange juice to the young man next to her.
The film moves on to a girl filling a small bucket with sand. A general view shows a beach and a lighthouse in the distance at the end of a concrete pier.
A group of children enjoy a ride in some colourful swing boats. The view changes to open water and hills in the distance [mostly over exposed] the film ends with a young man being pushed in a wheelchair over open grass perhaps in a public park.
