This amateur film shows pupils from Percy Hedley School in Newcastle on holiday in Spain in 1975.
The film opens showing a mountain range [damage on film] across a wide valley bathed in sunshine. The film shows the rocky landscape nearby and the sparse distribution of trees.
A brief view shows a minibus parked at the side of the road, the film then shows children and staff members from the school group taking photographs and some pat the head of a donkey which is standing next to a roadside fence. The staff also take pictures of the children.
A little further along the road, a number of donkeys are tethered to the fence, a man nearby seems to be in charge of them.
A view taken near a concrete wall shows a number of children on the donkeys, the school staff attend to them before they set off for a ride. The man in charge guides the donkeys down a hillside road.
General views follow of the spectacular mountain ranges in the locality. The train of donkeys and riders continues downhill.
A high-angle view follows of the holiday group at the bottom of a cliff having photographs taken next to a river in full spate as it goes down its rocky channel. A sign nearby reads ‘Fuentes del Algar’. The Algar Falls is a natural beauty spot found behind the hills of Altea near Callosa d’en Sarria and La Nucia on the Costa Blanca. A couple of pupils pose for the camera next to the sign.
The film shows a small stream of water coming down over nearby rocks, feeding into the torrent below. Pupils and staff stand looking at the cascade.
A change of view shows some of the young holidaymakers busy making sandcastles on a beach. Large high-rise buildings can be seen in the background. Other children wade into the shallow sea waters just off the beach.
The film moves from the beach to show numbers of palm trees growing on land nearby. [blank section]
The view changes again to show three girls working together making sandcastles on another part of the beach. Staff nearby enjoy the weather on the beach.
The same staff members help some of the girls to wade and play in the shallow sea waters. They join hands and form a circle and dance around in the water.
The film cuts to view taken on the veranda of a house, where staff pour drinks. Some of the children sit around a small table where there are drinks and cake.
One of the members of staff brings out a birthday cake onto the veranda with burning candles on it. She places it on the table, a boy standing next to the table bends down to blow out the candles, and everyone applauds.
The film changes showing overcast weather and go-karts on a race track. A member of staff spots the camera and makes a face. Two of the pupils drive their karts along the track towards the camera, others follow on behind and continue on around the track. [indistinct section] The karts come full circle and pass by the camera.
The film cuts back to the house and the veranda seen earlier. From a doorway, at ground level, three girls appear, one pushes another in a buggy. They all make their way up the steps to the veranda and sit on seats in a corner.

The next view shows a group of children coming down the steps from the veranda, carrying bags. The group gets into a small car, a member of staff comes down the veranda steps also carrying a bag, and gets in the car.
The film changes to show fields of small trees and shrubs. A group of boys stands in a row on open ground near the house. They throw medium-sized balls or bowls as they play a game of bowls. They go to check the position of the bowls on the ground.[indistinct section] They measure the distance between some of the bows, they seem to come to a decision on the winner. The boys go to sit on a nearby wall and pose for the camera.
The film cuts to a girl sitting on a chair on the veranda reading. The film ends as a boy is caught on camera on the veranda, and another walks up the steps to join him.
