Title-Cornish Holiday
Title-Film, Agfa, Panchromatic exposures, smethurst highlight system, photography, K.G. Tofield.
Title-The Holidaymakers Muriel and Eileen.
Two women, who appear to be twins, are on a beach in their swimming costumes and caps. The sandy beach, the river tributary and the buildings that surround the bay are visible. A shot of the beach shows a number of beach huts which are built against the man-made sea wall.
Title-Surf Riding
There are many men and women walking towards the sea and carrying small wooden boards. They wade into the sea, lie on the boards and let the waves carry them back to the shore. There are more shots of the beach and the `surf riding', and as people exit the sea, we see them in the swimming costumes that were in fashion at the time.
Title-Surf riding is Bude's chief attraction as it has a gently sloping beach.
There is a shot from the beach looking towards the sea which is quite far out. There are also people sitting on the beach looking out to sea.
Title-On to which the Atlantic rollers are always breaking.
Some more shots of crowds of people going into and coming out of the sea with surf boards.
Title-It looks good fun so we have a try.
The two women wade into the sea with their boards. They lie on the boards and let the sea wash them back onto the beach.
Title-Back again for another ride.
The women do it all over again.
Title-So we go in, wade out, ride in.
The women on the surf boards.
Title-Beachcombers.
The two women are on a large pebble beach where they dig around looking for various shapes and types of stones.
Title-Various kinds of stones-moss, agate, topaz etc.-are to be found at the Cornish beaches.
They continue to wander over the rocky shoreline, and then there are extensive shots of the resort, the hotels, pleasure boating, cliffs and the sea rolling in.
Title-These two pieces are topaz.
Shots of their hands as they pull different stones from the beach and show them to the camera.
The women are on the beach with a kite. One of the women is trying to wind the kite down from the air but it is taking her a long time.
Title-Keep at it! You'll get it down sometime!
The women, who are dressed exactly the same, are successfully winding in the kite string. In the next shot they are standing on a cliff overlooking the sea.
Title-The canal is now used for pleasure boating only.
The twins paddle down a stream in a canoe. Next one of the twins comes out of a beach hut and sits down with her mom and sister to read the paper.
In the final scene the women are on a rocky beach. They climb on rock formations before a final shot shows them climb right across to sit on the edge over the waves looking out to sea.
Title-The End.
