This film features the Staff of Gledhills, a group of people having fun in a community swimming pool, and a boat trip to the Isle of Man.
The film opens in black and white and features the staff coming in and out of a door of the Gledhill factory. (Gledhill's was responsible for making cash registers and other measuring standards such as rulers or spirit levels. However, the company closed in the 1970s due to the rise of the electric cash register.)
Then, in Dufay colour, the film moves to the swimming pool where a group of teenagers/young adults is playing about. There is also a brief shot of a road median with many trees and flowers.
On Kodachrome colour stock, there is more footage of the pool, and the ladies jump in as a group.
In black and white, the film returns to outside of the Gledhill factory as more staff goes in and out of the building, some waving at the camera along the way.
Back in colour, two boys play a game of table tennis nearby the pool while a group of their friends gather around to watch. At the pool there is a large slide into the pool which everyone tries out, and they also play around in the pool sitting on each other's shoulders. Still filming the pool scene, the film changes to black and white stock, although in this brief portion of the film the image is of poor quality due to an obstruction in the camera gate.
During a boat trip, the seagulls are flying hear the boat, and passengers on deck hold up bits of food to make the birds follow. As the boat gets closer to shore, rowboats can be seen, and there is a horse pulling a buggy out of the water onto the beach. This mode of transportation was used in order to allow passangers to get from the boat to the shore without getting wet.
On the Isle of Man, many people are out and about in town and also walk along the boardwalk near the seaside. There are people playing on the beach, and the Palace resort/hotel is also featured. This area of the Isle of Man is also documented in some colour stock as well.
Now in Scotland, there are many people playing different seaside carnival games, and there is a dramatic performance on a small bandstand-type stage. The film then closes with a final view of the harbour and the passengers on the deck of the steamboat.
