New roads created and opening for use
The new road being opened for use is the M62 motorway. For the opening, crowds of people are welcomed to walk on the newly finished motorway. As they are on part of an overpass, throughway traffic is passing by underneath. There is also a sign towards Leeds and Bradford, and the Crossley Carpets building can be seen in the background. The Lord Mayor has come to cut the ribbon for the official opening, and his car, followed by police cars and a bus, are the first vehicles to drive on the new road.

The construction area and road signs are near old buildings and various construction materials, including a crane, are present.
Title - Southgate becomes a pedestrian precinct
At Southgate, the passageway has been closed to traffic and there are many people walking around to and from various shops.

Title - The Civic Theatre there is a festival of Queens
Queens elected from different schools walk up the isles onto the stage where they form a line on some risers. Girls in uniform, presumably Brownies, walk up the isle onto the stage to present a woman with a bouquet and gifts. The Queens then process of the stage. The theatre is packed full of people and there are dancers who also perform on stage.

A few different school bands play onstage including a full orchestra. Each is led by a conductor. The film closes with end titles - Cameraman SV Barren, EE Jennings, W MacKenzie, PR Sunderland - Graphics and Editing W. MacKenzie
