This is a film which consists of 10 small reels of 8mm film. The reels of film are unedited portions of what was to be The Prodigal Son. However, the film was prevented from being completed due to illness. The film is an updated and modern version of the classic Bible story and consists of a few main scenes which are decipherable and shot from different angles in order to be edited later.
The father owns a construction company called Briggs & Sons which is responsible for the current building at a construction site. At the site there is a sign which reads - Briggs & Sons - Builders & Contractors Site for School Architect Weightman & Buller Liverpool. While the father and eldest son are hard at work going over blueprints, the youngest son is more concerned with playing golf as is seen from the bag of golf clubs which he keeps in the trunk of his car.
Another main sequence takes place at the family house. It is here where the father works in his study concerning business and financial matters. Also, he seems to play a bit of a diplomat as he welcomes many people into his large home. Other scenes which take place at this location include a family breakfast meal before the Prodigal son leaves, as well as an argument between the eldest son and father about the treatment of the youngest brother.
The final main sequence takes place when the Prodigal son returns. He approaches the entrance to the house and debates whether or not to go inside after his long absence. Scruffy looking, smoking, and in a worn leather jacket, the youngest brother decides it's better not to go in. However, his father sees him, runs after him, and after a forgiving embrace, convinces him to come back home.
There are a few additional bits and pieces within the unedited footage which does not clearly fit right away into the main story line. Also, much of the scenes are shot in various angles and close-ups.
