At Shibden Park Lake, there is a small paddle boat and many ducks swimming around in the lake. There is a program advertising for the day's events, a boat race to take place on Friday at 6pm with a trophy to be presented by Evaoni Snowbriche - Film Star. There are a few girls selling small rosette ribbons out of small boxes which hang around their necks, and one of the girls helps to pin the ribbon on one of her kid patrons. Situated around the lake are many spectators of all ages gathering for the boat race.
The two teams begin to line up for the race. The first group, dressed in red and white uniforms, make up the Spartans. The three boys of this team seem to be quite physical and march confidently to their mark, while the two girls from the team seem to have "more important things to think about" according to the commentary as they strike a pose for the spectators. While the male members of the audience are quite intrigued, two older women sitting on a bench do not seem to be very amused by their performance. The next team dressed in blue and white run to the line up point behind their coach and do different kinds of stretches to prepare themselves for the physical activity of the boat race.
The teams get into their respective paddle boats, and with a shot of a start gun, the race begins. However, no team seems to have it together as each boat seems to go in a different direction, if the team is able to move the boat at all. A few go around in circles while one rower looses his paddle in the lake. Also, one of the spectators, looking to get a closer look at the race, drops his glasses into the lake and has quite a time fishing them out. When he is able to recover them, his glasses are covered in seaweed-like plants from the bottom of the lake.
There are some close calls in the race, but in the end, it is the Spartan team leader who is victorious. Quite overcome with excitement, he stands up and cheers in his boat after crossing the finish line, but subsequently loses his balance and falls into the lake.
After making his way out of the lake, a quite wet Spartan team leader accepts his trophy from actress Evaoni Snowbriche, star of "Room at the Bottom." And after a quick kiss on the cheek, the team leader runs off in celebration.
The film closes with a Finish banner and the credits listing the schools involved.
