This film is an appeal to the community for donations to the Newland Orphanage.
The film opens with a montage of sea disasters. There is a family on the docks at Hull looking towards the ship (Cape Tarifa.) Outside at the orphanage, Brian Rix, with children gathered around him, speaks directly to the camera giving a brief background and explaining the purpose of the orphanage in a plea for donations. The rest of the film documents different families, children, facilities, and duties of the orphanage. The house mothers with the children all gathered around the table for mealtime, a boy with a brace on his leg is up to bat in a game of cricket, and other children are playing as different views of the premises can be seen. There is also a chapel service in which the members of the orphanage gather together for a non-denominational service of worship. The film closes with a final plea from Brian and a shot of the family from the beginning of the film, for with your donations, they too can be helped by the Sailors' Children's Society.
