Title - Prep Friday night and Saturday morning
The preparations for the day's events begin with a man putting up a large welcome banner at the entrance of the church yard. In the yard, workers set up large tents and other stands as well as work on flowers for the Queen's float.
Title - Getting ready
Those processing in the Gala, including small children and adults, all of whom are in costume, gather in the town streets and wait for the procession to begin. The marching band leads the procession (also including a traditionally Scottish dressed band) through the town streets, which are lined with spectators, and up to the church yard. In the church yard, people of the town gather and visit different rides and stands.
Title - Miss Kathleen Mason is crowned Gala Queen 1972-3
More rides of the fair can be seen as well as many closer individual views of different costumes for the fancy dress competition.
There are a few pairs of women competing in a log sawing competition, as well as a performance by the Tegatani Karate Pegasus Club which includes many different kicking techniques and brick breaking. Additionally, there is a puppet show set up entertaining the younger members of the community. Other day's events include races and pole climbing.
Finally the Gala comes to a close and the workers begin to break down the different stands and tents.
