This film documents the farewell ceremonies of the Civil Defence in Halifax in 1945 at the end of WWII filmed by the Halifax Cine Club.
The film opens with a few title cards reading:

The film begins with a few members of the service leaving their houses...
This film documents the farewell ceremonies of the Civil Defence in Halifax in 1945 at the end of WWII filmed by the Halifax Cine Club.

The film begins with a few members of the service leaving their houses to congregate for the beginning of the parade. A woman in uniform exits the door of a house, three men in uniform walk down a sidewalk, and another woman comes out of a gate. Members of the service meet near a bus stop, make their way into formation, and begin to march off down the street. Other members congregate in larger groups and make their way for the start of the parade. The marching band leads the parade down the street past the cinema. There are people from the town lined up on both sides of the street to watch the proceedings.
Title card - The Parade forms up for the Final Ceremony at Shay...
The parade, still lead by the band, enters Shay Stadium and lines up on the field in formation facing the stands.

The men walk down the steps into the stadium while all the members of service stand at attention on the field.
Title card - Mr. JE Martin, the ARP Officer hands back the Civil Defence Flag to the Mayor for safe custody
A uniformed member lowers and removed the flag from the flagpole and the presents it to the Mayor, both saluting as this transaction occurs. One of the generals then delivers a speech and is also presented a large plaque. There is then a shot of a songbook for the tune Land of Hope and Glory, a song which the band begins to play. The entire crowd who has gathered at the stadium also sings along.
After the song, the members of service make their exit from the stadium passing the Mayor and saluting on the way out. The film then closes with a final shot of the Union Jack waving from a flag pole and an end title card.
