This brief film is part of a collection that records a family from York's trips to the coast and countryside around North Yorkshire. The films were all shot by the Lord Mayor of York's son and are a child's view of these days before World War Two. The film opens with some lingering shots of a black dog sitting outside a house and then it cuts to shots of the Whitby coastline. The camera pans along to take in Whitby light house, the pier and the rough sea which are shot from the cliff looking down. There are more shots of the sea but this time taken from lower down on a beach. The next shot is taken from one side of Whitby harbour; the camera takes shots across to the other side where the houses, roads and large building can be seen up the hillside. There are a few brief shots of large buoys and seagulls flying around over the water.
