Title - Death wears a mask.
On a street in Doncaster, a group of boys drag a box car up a hill with a dummy guy Fawkes, who wears a white mask with a suit and tie. The boys turn the box round and written on side of it is the word 'Jezebel'. A boy places a placard on the dummy's lap, which reads 'Penny for the guy'. The children then stand around discussing their plan.
Two men walk past and the children, who hold out a pot which one of the men deposits money into. Another man walks past that doesn't feel obliged to give money, pushing the children out the way. A new man comes along and gives some money, before lighting his pipe as he walks into a very dark alley. In the alley, the man is clubbed to death by a mugger, who raids his wallet. The mugger then puts a Guy Fawkes mask on the dead man.
The following sequence shows shots of Fawkes night; a large bonfire roars in the open, while fireworks explode in the sky. The mugger then takes his victim (in the Guy Fawkes costume) to a bonfire, where he burns him laughing manically.
The mugger returns home, where he sits at the breakfast table counting his money. Suddenly his victim appears in the corner of the room. The victim puts on his hat and the mugger begins to panic. He removes the mask and the mugger stands frozen against the wall. The man then moves towards the mugger and vanishes like a ghost. The mugger collapses in a heap and dies with blood falling out of his mouth. The key then turns by itself and the door closes as the ghost slips out the house.
