Title - Stockyard to Coalface Transport and Handling of Materials
In an open courtyard, the material needed for a working pit is shown, including steel bars, and pole support. A miner demonstrates how they order and maintain the materials.
Three apprentices are then guided through the maintenance of materials as they work in the stock yard. This includes the apprentices following safety procedures in each area, such as labelling and fixing anything damaged properly.
Safety moves into a mine, working with transport tubs. The miners demonstrate how to couple and uncouple. The apprentices are shown how to stand, load and off load haulage correctly.
If safety rules are not followed, it shows what could happen. A dramatization of a group of miners leaving wires messy leads to a man getting injured as he falls over it.
The film finishes with a woman loading a large sunflower into a mini car and driving off.
