This is an unfinished film made up of various bits of footage of Bradford's trolleybuses at the time of their ending in 1972. It shows the trolleybuses running in Bradford and has interviews (on separate magnetic tracks). It complements the film, Bradford's Last Trolley Bus (2628).
The film begins with a bus driving down a street, filmed in the driver's cab, showing him operating the handbrake and the foot pedals. The trolley bus is then filmed driving through the streets of Bradford. On board an elderly man is interviewed (for 5 mins.) then overhead cables are hooked on, with the pole being stowed under the bus. Passengers get on, including the filming crew.
Two workmen at the garage are interviewed. There is a clapper board and they film a trolley bus reversing out of garage from roof height. Clapper board again and it drives back in. After another clapper board there is an interview on board bus with the person who gives a speech at the ceremony for the Last trolley Bus (see 2628). Then there is film from the upstairs of the bus as it journeys. It is also filmed from the lower deck, with two women passengers chatting. This is followed by film of a bus from outside, going away, (clapper board) and another comes towards the camera, with someone riding by on a horse. Again a bus is filmed leaving the garage from roof level. Next they follow a trolley bus, filming the front of another bus.
There is a short break in the film before they film a trolley bus following them. A bus pulls into a layby, with enthusiasts ready with cameras. Then a bus journey is filmed from the top deck of the bus. A group of photographers stand next to a bus, and then a bus passes 'Dan Illingworth & Sons, Combers & Worsted Spinners', and into the city centre, past the Wool Exchange. It continues, past a building with 'United States' written in large letters. Much of the film focuses on the overhead cables. A conductor gets off to pull a lever at the side of the road to switch lines. As the bus goes on its journey through the streets of Bradford enthusiasts take photos along the way. The conductor and driver both get poles out from under the trolley bus and use them to transfer the bus on to another line of cables, with others also filming. The film comes to an end.
