A filmmaker from York chronicles some of the repair work carried out on the York Minster after it was damaged by a fire on 9th July, 1984. The film opens with a shot of the Minster which shows a large crane hoisting a wooden arch from the roof. The action switches to ground level, where a large group of people have gathered on a sunny day to watch the repair work, and one man films the event with a small handheld film camera. Slowly, the frame is lowered to the ground, and once safely down, the frame is rested against some scaffolding. Workman mill around the wooden frame, which is many metres high. A new section of framework is then lowered back into the roof. There are again shots of the watching crowd, which has increased in number. The film finishes with long shots of the area and a static shot of the entrance to St Williams College, and there is a close up of plaque that gives a brief history of college. The final shot shows the Minster.
