A film documenting a Gala day at York Rugby ground, which was situated near the York District Hospital. The film pays particular attention to the various performances that are showcased on the stage.
The opening shots of this film show the crowd, predominantly young children, enjoying a performance by clowns who play about as they try to put on oversized clothing. Moving on, more circus style performances are shown: roller skaters perform a very acrobatic routine, a pony covered in flowers parades around the stage, and finally trapeze artists perform balancing acts.
Three couples, wearing tuxedos and big dresses, go on stage and waltz. This is followed by some games; women throwing off coat hangers and then stacking tea cups. After each performance the filmmaker cuts back to show the large audience enjoying the fun. The film closes with a fine performance from a puppeteer, whose puppets dance and strum guitars.
