This amateur film by a Wakefield-based businessman captures a family caravanning trip to Wales, which includes footage of the countryside, the coast and many picturesque old buildings. The camera captures many of scenic hills and valleys as well as visitor destinations such as Colwyn Bay.
The second passage of the film takes in scenes at Stratford where there are good views of Ann Hathaway's House, Shakespeare's Monument and views of the town.
A car and caravan drive off down a road and there is a sign which reads `Iron Dish Camp, All Enquiries at the House, Tradesmans' (sic) Vehicles Strictly Prohibited'.
The caravans and cars are parked on the camping site and there is a sign for `Delamere' and the camera pans to the right to show a country road with a car on it. A sign reads `Delamere Forest Golf Club' and this is followed by point of view shots taken from the front of the car as they drive along the road.
There are views along a busy main street and a shot of a small pedestrian bridge linking the tops of two buildings.
There are shots of the countryside, some old castle ruins and then shots of people walking along city walls. The buildings have Tudor-style brick fronts and the camera captures the many tightly packed buildings along the street and then following this are shot of a marching band which makes its way along the main street. There is a brief shot of a large house in the middle of the country and then more point of view shots taken from the front of the car as it drives along. The turrets of a castle are visible in the background poking up above the tree tops. This is followed by a sequence of shots of a town square, a caravan site, as seen from a height, and panoramic views of the hilly countryside.
A blackbird takes a piece of bread off one of the men from the Wilkinson party and then hops up onto his shoulder. The man smiles at the camera and is watched by one of the woman who watches from the caravan behind.
Some cars drive across a river on an ornate bridge which has stone towers at either end. There are more shots of the river with small boats sailing on it, shots of the bridge and also of the family sitting on rocks beside a waterfall.
There is a sign for `Abergele' and a shot of a small road leading out of the village. There is a shot of a gatehouse and then a sign for `Givrych Castle Coaches'. There is a panoramic view of the front of the castle which has many turrets and flag poles and then a few shots of the different towers and sections of the castle.
There is a view taken from a height looking down onto the sea and a small village that lies along the coast line. Following this are shots of a very fast flowing river which flows down through large boulders. Some of the Wilkinson family stand on a viewing platform and watch the view; there are shots of the river from a number of angles.
There is a sequence of shots of a town and its heavy traffic and then of a large castle in the centre of the town. There follows a sequence of shots of the countryside, a river in the middle of a forest, and the Wilkinson's caravan parked in a field. Someone films some bulls which have come up to the side of the caravan; they film out of one of the windows.
There are shots of a small town with `bars' or `gates' leading into it and a sign for `Borough of Stratford upon Avon'. There is a point of view shot taken from a small boat as it makes its way along a river. There are lots of other boats rowing and sailing along the river as well as crowds of people queuing at various jetties and sitting beside the river at various points. Lots of the buildings are small cottage-style buildings with thatched roofs and Tudor brick designs on the front. Lots of people walk past the William Shakespeare statue in the town square.
As the car drives along there are views of a large village built into the hillside. There is a sequence of shots of the countryside, the family sitting on rocks beside a stream and smiling at the camera, shots of a wide river and a town with busy shopping streets, monuments, bunting strung across the buildings and a view from a height looking down onto a bay.
There are shots taken from the inside of a small train as it makes its way through the countryside; the passengers are bounced about a bit as the track is bumpy. A flowerbed has the word `Abberffrwd' written in small flowers and as the train makes its way along the track, there are shots of the countryside.
A sign reads `Devil's Bridge, 680 feet above sea level' and this is followed by a shot of the vast drop down to a river. Then another sign reads `To the Devil's Bridge and Falls' and some people walk along a forest track to a huge waterfall and a woman stands on the top of what appears to be an old mill wheel.
