Before the Inspection
Guards line up in formation, standing at attention and holding their rifles. Some of the commanders can be seen, and there is also a small motorcycle unit.
Title – Everyone is in good spirits…….
There is a close up of one of the men who is smiling.

There is a brief shot of a man chewing gum before more scenes of the Home Guards standing at attention.
Title – The Battalion Band, under its able Conductor, Bandmaster S. Hallas, contributes to the general spirit of enthusiasm.
The conductor is leading a brass band who provides musical accompaniment for the festivities. Two officers approach.
Title – The SUB-AREA COMMANDER aims to inspect the Battalion.
The Commander arrives and carries out an inspection of the Home Guard.

During the inspection, the Commander stops to speak to some of the members of the Home Guard. He also speaks to a few of the men on motorcycles.
Family members have gathered to watch the event, and there is a large group of women and children at the edge of the field. The Commander moves onto inspect the band, and after which, all members of the Home Guard stand at attention.

The Commander makes a speech at a microphone, and there is a shot of the speaker which projects the speech to everyone gathered for the event.
Title - ……and takes the salute.
The Home Guard march past in Wakefield city centre. Crowds line the very narrow street as they march by for the salute.
Title – A friendly chat with the Officers.
After the parade, the Commander and Officers chat over cigarettes before the Commander gets into a car.
