Title - Making 'XXX' mints.
The opening shot of this film shows factory workers flattening large square pieces of the minty substance used to make the 'XXX' mint. The slabs are then put onto a conveyer belt and fed into a machine, which cuts them into the desired circular shape. The finished shapes are then hand checked and any damaged pieces are discarded.
Title - Tube wrapping.
Female workers wearing white aprons and rags work with speed and efficiency wrapping the finished mints in packaging. The filmmaker then captures shots of South African workers carrying boxes through the factory.
Title - Cellophaning Smartie cartons.
Shots of a female factory worker wrapping cellophane around Smartie boxes.
Title - Enrobing.
A panning shot of a factory room shows large conveyer belts which transport the chocolate bars into the enrobing machine (essentially covering the bars in another layer chocolate). The filmmaker then captures women imprinting a pattern onto the chocolates with a special fork-like instruments, as they are fed out of the enrobing machine.
Title -Wafer Baking.
South African male workers wearing white aprons drop wafer mixture into various small baking presses, and then feed the baked wafers onto another conveyer belt. Another sweeping shot shows the bustling factory in full swing.
Title - Sugar boiling room.
This sequence shows the sugar boiling process in some detail. Throughout this sequence there are sporadic portrait shots of the factory workers. A machine rapidly spits out finished lollipops once the boiling process has finished and the sugar has hardened. The lollipops are then shown being put into boxes by female workers.
Title - Assortment packing.
In this passage a long line of woman package different products such as boxes of chocolate, sweets and mints. The filmmaker captures a shot of the line manager, whose uniform is noticeably more formal as she smiles for the camera.
Title - Piping whipped cream log.
Thin strips of chocolate are laid out on a conveyer belt, and there are several shots that show workers adding a strip of cream down the middle. The women work and great speed, and in one shot a worker notices the camera and laughs.
Title - Black to move.
In this sequence the filmmaker shows the exterior of the factory. South African workers are standing around, chatting and playing various games in the forecourt. The filmmaker then cuts to a shot of a man standing beside a truck, which has a vinyl on the side, reading, 'Wilson's sweets'. The final passage in this sequence shows more shots of women packing the sweets inside the factory.
Title - canteen garden.
Elevated shots show the lush garden area. Then several men wearing white coats walk out of the building and smile at the camera.
