This film documents the events held in Whitby Folk Week which took place from the 16th-22nd of August, 1986.
The film opens with shots of the posters advertising the event. This is followed by a parade made up of Morris Men, country dancers, children dancing, a VW camper van, more mixed groups of Morris dancers and country dancers. Many of the participants are dressed in colourful folk costumes. One of the groups, a group of Irish dancers, stop to perform outside a church.
In the market square, dancers are performing outside a shop called Blenkeys. There are many people watching the dancing. There is a shot of a large euphonium.
The shot then zooms to the quayside in Whitby where there are couples dancing by a bandstand watched by crowds. Next we see Morris men in traditional white and black doing a handkerchief dance. Children dressed in red are seen doing a flower dance. Many other groups perform, and a large crowd of spectators have gathered to watch.
There is a brief shot of a traditional Morris horse (man dressed up) doing a dance as well as Morris Men doing the traditional dance with hankies and another group dancing with sticks. The film ends with a shot of the Abbey and finishes with the poster of the Whitby Shark jaw bone.
