Part of the Ibberson family collection, this film documents the events surrounding the Festival of Remembrance in Sheffield, 1954. Title-Festival of Remembrance Sunday 7th Nov. 1954 A marching band make their way down a main street, past a war memorial and crowds of people who have lined the streets. Then some veterans march after them carrying wreaths. Army officers also take part in the procession and there are lots of shots of them walking in formation. The crowds gather in front of the memorial where some clergy, Mrs Ibberson officers and other dignitaries line up. Mrs Ibberson and some others lay wreathes at the base of the memorial and there is a brief close-up shot of the poppy wreathes. Title-Christmas messages in the `Sheffield Telegraph' window. Title-For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful Counseller [sic]. The Mighty God, the everlasting father, the Prince of peace. Title-Choristers at Christ Church, Doc Sheffield at the annual carol service. There are cards with portraits of men (The Mayor, Mr Ibberson others) and letters written, but the writing is too small to read. (This section is in colour) Two young Ibberson boys are outside in a garden full of snow, they throw a snow ball in the direction of the camera. (Back to black and white) Children file into a hall where a band and BBC camera crew have set up. The orchestra are being conducted by a man and the camera pans to take in the BBC crew too. Then a woman pianist comes on stage to join them. She plays very vigorously and the young boys watch. The next shots look like they were recorded from a television. There is a sequence of shots taken from a television which show men and women in evening dress walking into a hall and up the stairs. Then it cuts to the music hall and the conductor comes onto stage and begins. The camera pans to give views of the entire hall, the guests, the soloist and conductor. The soloist bows and is given flowers and then there are shots of Cutlers Hall and the audience. (The following shots are in colour) and are of a trip by the Master Cutler and his wife (Mr and Mrs Ibberson) to the Painted fabrics workshop and homes for disabled ex-servicemen in Sheffield.
