Title - A personal news reel.
A man and three women enter a car; one woman holds a cat as she enters, but then quickly returns it to another woman before the car drives off. The next scene shows a group of people sitting around a wooden table outside a house, they laugh as someone feeds a dog.
A group of people cross a rickety rope bridge, and then stand on a river bank. Women then walk across the Bolton Abbey stepping stones that cross the River Wharfe. Another woman then points across to a hilly landscape, before the filmmaker captures some shots that show a hedgehog followed by a puppy.
The next sequence begins with a man poking his head out of some shoulder high grass, and then three women pose beneath a rock face. Following this, the filmmaker captures a bespectacled man reading a newspaper, who then holds a young bird in his palm.
Two people sleep on what appears to be a pebbled beach, and there are further shots of people crossing the stepping stones which appeared earlier; this segment also includes some reverse motion, which shows a man crossing the stones backwards. The final sequence of this segment shows people lounging in a garden; a man plays on a swing, a woman relaxes on a deck chair, and then there is a close up of a book which reads: 'Scrap book. By L.M.Collingwood', and contains many drawings.
Initially, a woman stands in a door way admitting people who each pass her a ticket. The filmmaker cuts to the interior, and it becomes apparent that this is a viewing of a home movie. An usher shows people to their seats using a torch.
Moving away from the home cinema, a man enters a small stone structure in a field. Then, in a forest clearing, a group people sit on a bench preparing to take a photo.
Title - Smile please.
The photographer lifts the camera to take a photo. The film then cuts to a snowy scene, where some people play with a dog. Following this, the filmmaker captures various shots of a monkey that is chained to a car bumper. There is then a lengthy sequence taken of a car journey, with the camera positioned near the end of the cars bonnet. A couple then mess around in a lake, which is quickly superseded by shots of a man walking his dog, and a sheep grazing with its young lamb in a field.
The next sequence opens with a group of people exiting what appears to be a stately home. The next segment shows some young kids playing with their mother in a garden; they play with a toy kart and one boy eats a lollipop.
Next are some family scenes; a little girl eats little pieces of cake which a man holds out for her. She runs towards the camera outside a farm house. A man then leads his horse around a field; there is then a shot of the family posing with the horse.
Finally, at a funfair, the filmmaker captures a merry go round, Ferris wheel, ghost train and a roller coaster. The film closes with shots of an entrance building for a new ride called 'the whip', which is like spinning tea cups.
