This is a film that shows children using a newly opened children's library in Athersley, Barnsley.
The film opens in the newly built library with children on the outside peering in through the window. Children then go in and out of the library with books. The library is full of children looking at the shelves and sitting, working at desks. Some of the children are shown in close up. There are lots of smaller children browsing through the books in the infant section. Some of them hold up illustrations from books to the camera. Behind the children who look through their books is a painting of Malcolm Saville, a children's book author. Some of the children peer into the camera, and some leave. A man, possibly a father or teacher, poses with two boys and the film comes to an end.
