The film begins on a sunny day with rowers getting into their boats on the River Ouse in York. Two pairs of fours, each with a cox, are competing side-by-side in a regatta race is filmed from the War Memorial Gardens. The Museum Gardens are in the background. One team is in white with a diagonal stripe, the other in navy blue. People are sitting in rows watching with Lendel Bridge in the background. This is followed by a women's rowing race of two teams of eight wearing the same colours. There is a trophy table where spectators are sitting near the York Rowing Club House. Rowers carry their boats down to the river, and more races are shown with various team colours. Two swans are being carried, and a boat passes with the Mayor aboard. The two swans are placed by the side of the river, and a man goes out onto the river in a small boat. Another boat goes by for 'Ouse Navigation'. The swans are placed in the river to swim off by a man with a swan motif on the arm of his jacket. Narrow boats are also parked up on the side of the river. A Waterways boat passes, and many people are enjoying the day walking along the river, some out on boats. One narrow boat is named 'Meri City of Ely'. The film finishes showing more pleasure boats.
